The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is set to host a memorial webinar to honor the late Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, who tragically passed away leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire fans and filmmakera alike.
The webinar according to the National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has the theme “Health & Safety in the Workplace” billed for April 10, 2025.
Addressing newsmen at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on arrival from South Africa where he gone to attend the International Labour Organisation conference, Emeka Rollas said that AGN is still deeply saddened by the loss of Junior Pope and the memorial webinar would create an avenue not only to reflect and celebrate his life and contributions but also ensure that his passing serves as a wake up call and a catalyst for positive change in the industry. He noted that Junior Pope’s work will always live on in the hearts of his family, fans and colleagues.
“The safety and welfare of our members are at the heart of everything we do. We are advocating for a policy that reflect the value of the movie industry and the contributions of its talent where every actor deserves to work in an environment that fosters creativity without compromising their health, safety, or dignity. The Actors Guild of Nigeria remains dedicated to elevating the standards of its members ensuring that all actors, regardless of their experience level, can work with confidence and security. Moving forward, the Guild will continue to work assiduously to bring about long-lasting policy for a safer and more equitable working environment for all members”. The AGN president said.
Facilitators at epoch event are industry veterans, Kanayo o. Kanayo, Ruth Kadiri and renowned safety and health expert Dr. Tammy Lawrence-Nduba.
The memorial webinar will also focus on mental health, career sustainability, and the safety of Actors within ecosystem.
The event will conclude with a moment of silence in honor of Junior Pope.
