NCC Ombudsman to Set the Tone at Titans of Tech 2025 with Hard Talk on Digital Rights

As Africa’s digital economy continues to expand at record pace, the spotlight turns to consumer trust, responsible innovation, and regulatory foresight at the 2025 Titans of Tech Conference & Expo, holding on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, beginning 10:00 AM prompt.

With the theme: “Game Changers – Shaping the Future of Technology,” this flagship tech gathering will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, innovators, and digital disruptors to shape bold strategies for Africa’s technological future.

A major highlight of the conference is a keynote session by Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), who will speak on the highly relevant topic:

“Protecting Digital Consumers: Regulations, Innovations & Best Practices”

As Africa’s digital ecosystem grows, millions of users now rely daily on broadband, mobile platforms, AI, e-commerce, and cloud services. But this boom also exposes consumers to risks—from data breaches to cybercrime, unethical practices, and digital exclusion.

Dr. Maida’s keynote will focus on how regulators, industry players, and governments can safeguard digital consumers while fostering innovation and inclusion.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Strengthening regulatory frameworks to protect consumer rights and privacy

  • Balancing innovation with accountability across telecoms and digital platforms

  • Promoting digital literacy and consumer empowerment

  • Encouraging collaborative efforts for a safer, fairer digital ecosystem

With deep expertise in technology policy and a clear vision for Nigeria’s digital future, Dr. Maida has positioned the NCC as a key enabler of innovation and a staunch protector of consumer interests. His leadership is helping reshape the regulatory landscape in alignment with global best practices and local realities.

In a joint statement by Technology Africa and TechTV, organisers of the event, “This year’s theme, ‘Game Changers – Shaping the Future of Technology,’ reflects the urgent need for bold leadership and transformative ideas in Africa’s tech space. Dr. Maida’s keynote is timely as it tackles one of the most pressing challenges in our digital journey—consumer trust and protection,”

Also speaking, Don Pedro Aganbi, project coordinator of the Titans of Tech Conference & Expo said...“As Africa goes digital, we must ensure that innovation serves the people—not the other way around. This session with Dr. Maida will open critical conversations around regulation, responsibility, and building a digital economy that works for everyone.”

To crown the day, the event will culminate in the Titans of Tech Awards & Game Changers Gala Night—a grand celebration honouring the visionaries, pioneers, institutions, and innovators shaping Africa’s digital future.
