Elon Musk’s satellite internet service Starlink has announced that it will provide free broadband access across Venezuela through February 3, 2026, in a move aimed at keeping citizens connected during a period of political upheaval and telecommunications disruptions.

The service credits, which apply to both active and inactive accounts, were automatically added to eligible users’ Starlink accounts to ensure continued connectivity amid widespread concerns about internet and power outages following recent U.S. military action and the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

Starlink, a subsidiary of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, uses a constellation of low-earth-orbit satellites to deliver internet where traditional infrastructure may be fragile or unavailable. Though the company’s official availability map still lists Venezuela as “coming soon,” users can access Starlink via roaming plans, provided they have compatible equipment in place.

In a post shared on its official social media channels, Starlink said it is “monitoring evolving conditions and regulatory requirements” as it supports connectivity efforts in the country.

The temporary free access window is intended to bridge connectivity gaps caused by infrastructure challenges and ensure that Venezuelans can maintain communication for work, education, and access to information, as traditional networks face interruptions.

While the free service is set to last only through early February, the broader implications for satellite internet deployment and geopolitical influence in regions with unstable communications networks are significant — highlighting the growing role of private satellite providers in crisis response and global connectivity.
