Meta Platforms has unveiled a new initiative aimed at luring top content creators away from rival platforms, offering up to $3,000 in monthly earnings to boost activity on Facebook.
The programme, known as Creator Fast Track, is part of Meta’s broader push to strengthen its position in the fast-growing creator economy, where platforms like TikTok and YouTube have dominated in recent years.
Targeting Established Creators
According to Meta, the initiative is designed for “established creators who are new to or rediscovering Facebook.”
Under the programme:
Creators with at least 100,000 followers on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube can earn $1,000 per month
Those with over one million followers may earn up to $3,000 per month
The programme will run for up to three months, during which participants are required to publish short-form video content, known as Reels, on Facebook.
Monetisation and Growth Opportunities
Participants will gain immediate access to Facebook’s monetisation tools, enabling them to earn beyond the base incentives through content performance, including views and engagement.
Meta also said creators enrolled in the programme will benefit from increased content distribution, helping them grow their audience faster on the platform. Importantly, creators can continue earning from their content even after completing the programme.
The company noted that creators can monetise across multiple formats, including Reels, Stories, photos, and text posts, with Reels currently accounting for about 60% of total payouts.
Meta’s Growing Investment in Creators
Meta revealed it paid out nearly $3 billion to creators in 2025, representing a 35% increase from the previous year and its highest annual payout to date.
The move underscores the company’s aggressive strategy to compete for creator attention and engagement, particularly as younger audiences continue to favour TikTok and YouTube.
Expanding Features and Global Reach
As part of its creator-focused expansion, Meta has also introduced AI-powered translation tools that automatically dub and lip-sync Reels into multiple languages, allowing creators to reach broader global audiences.
Implications for Nigerian Creators
For creators in Nigeria, the initiative adds to growing monetisation opportunities on Facebook.
Nigerian creators became eligible for Facebook monetisation in July 2024, following the rollout of features such as in-stream ads and Ads on Reels. These tools allow creators to earn from original video content and audience engagement.
To qualify for in-stream ads, creators must meet specific requirements, including a minimum of 5,000 followers and adherence to Facebook’s monetisation policies.
Industry Context
Facebook, once the dominant force in social media, has faced increasing competition in recent years. With Creator Fast Track, Meta is clearly doubling down on financial incentives and creator tools to reclaim market share and drive engagement across its platforms.
As the battle for creators intensifies, initiatives like this signal a new phase in the evolution of the global creator economy.
