Nigerian Government Unveils App Platform to Track Performance

The Nigerian government has launched an upgraded Citizens’ Delivery Tracker App, which allows Nigerians to evaluate the performance of ministers, departments, and agencies and provide real-time feedback on policies, projects, and programmes.

Hadiza Bala-Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, announced the development in Abuja, stating that the application was upgraded following consultations with various stakeholders.

Citizens can access the application at app.cdcu.gov.ng, and it will be available in mobile app stores within the next month.

In August 2022, the government launched two government performance tracking platforms: the Presidential Delivery Tracker (PDT) and the website of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU). The platforms were designed to help citizens track the government’s deliverables and performance on policies, projects, and programmes.

Bala-Usman, who also serves as the head of the CDCU, stated that the initiative’s recent launch is consistent with the current administration’s goal of ensuring citizen-centric governance for accountability and transparency.

He also cited an example in which citizens can use the app to track the performance of the aviation sector, including the number of cancelled and delayed flights, while aiding in enforcing sanctions against underperforming airlines.

Along with the application, the CDCU developed a Delivery Reporting Framework and Template based on international best practices to assist in accurately assessing and reporting government performance.

The app allows citizens to view and assess specific deliverables and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the current government administration’s priority areas, such as economic reform to achieve long-term inclusive growth.

These assessment indicators and KPIs would guide the CDCU’s quarterly and annual scorecards presented to the president. Bala-Usman assured that CDCU is committed to tracking, monitoring, and reporting on MDA performance.
