Titans of Tech Africa Awards Announces Winners, Honours Africa’s Digital Trailblaizersft” Ceremony

The majestic ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, transformed into the continent’s biggest stage for technology excellence as the Titans of Tech Africa Awards 2026 unfolded in spectacular fashion. With all the elegance, excitement and star appeal of the Grammy Awards, the ceremony attracted an influential gathering of technology pioneers, captains of industry, policymakers, telecommunications executives, entrepreneurs, investors, academics and business leaders—making it one of Africa’s most prestigious gatherings in the ICT calendar.

From dazzling red-carpet arrivals to thunderous standing ovations, the evening celebrated the men, women and organisations whose ideas, leadership and innovation continue to redefine industries, expand digital inclusion, strengthen cybersecurity, accelerate enterprise transformation and drive Africa’s digital economy.

The 2026 theme, “Quantum Shift,” reflected the continent’s bold leap into a new era driven by artificial intelligence, trusted digital ecosystems, cybersecurity, connectivity, innovation and transformative leadership. Throughout the evening, the message was unmistakable: Africa’s digital future is no longer a distant aspiration—it is being built today by visionary leaders and innovative organisations.

Honouring Two Living Legends
The evening’s highest honours, the Lifetime Achievement Awards, were presented to two remarkable Nigerians whose work has fundamentally transformed the country’s technology landscape.

Professor Adenike Osofisan, widely celebrated as Africa’s First Lady of Computer Science, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her pioneering contributions to computer science education, research, mentorship and academic excellence. Through decades of distinguished service, she has inspired generations of computer scientists and technology professionals across Africa while helping lay the intellectual foundation for the continent’s digital future.

Also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award was Deji Oguntonade, recognised as “The Man Who Taught a Nation to Pay Digitally.” His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to electronic payments transformed the way millions of Nigerians transact, accelerating financial inclusion and contributing significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s digital payments ecosystem.

Celebrating Excellence Across the Digital Ecosystem
The Titans of Tech Africa Awards honoured outstanding individuals whose leadership and innovation continue to redefine Nigeria’s and Africa’s technology landscape.

CEO of the Year – Enterprise Technology was presented to Oyaje Idoko in recognition of his visionary leadership, strategic foresight and outstanding contributions to advancing enterprise technology solutions.

Data Protection Advocate of the Year went to Abdulaziz Aliyu Ari for his outstanding advocacy in data protection, privacy awareness and responsible digital practices, strengthening conversations around trust and accountability within Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.

A new category, Digital Trust Leader of the Year, was presented to John Nwachukwu in recognition of his exemplary leadership in advancing digital trust through cybersecurity, privacy, governance and resilient digital ecosystems, while promoting confidence, integrity and accountability across Africa’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Corporate Communications Specialist of the Year was awarded to Funso Aina for excellence in strategic communications, reputation management, technology storytelling and impactful communication leadership.

Digital Economy Ecosystem Builder of the Year went to Dr. Tola Yusuf for his outstanding contribution to strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy ecosystem through visionary leadership, innovation and strategic collaboration.

Stephen Odunta received the Web Hosting Innovator of the Year Award for his commitment to building secure, reliable and scalable digital infrastructure that continues to support Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

Adesuwa Imasekha was honoured as Women in Tech Advocate of the Year for her outstanding commitment to empowering women, advancing inclusion and creating greater opportunities for female participation in technology and innovation.

The Nigeria ICT Leadership Award was presented to Wale Owoeye for his distinguished contributions to the growth and advancement of Nigeria’s information and communications technology ecosystem.

Bimpe Olaleye received the Special Recognition Award – Women in Tech Leadership for her unwavering leadership, advocacy and commitment to advancing women’s participation in technology.

Segun Okuneye was honoured with the Special Recognition Award – Digital Connectivity Advocacy for his steadfast commitment to promoting broadband development, digital connectivity and wider technology access.

The Broadband Development Advocate of the Year Award went to Dr. Olusola Teniola for his outstanding advocacy and leadership in advancing broadband development, digital infrastructure and technology policy in Nigeria.

Driving Digital Transformation in Government
The Digital Innovation in Governance Awards recognised three distinguished public sector leaders whose visionary use of technology continues to transform governance and public service delivery.

Bayo Akande, Director General, Oyo State Infrastructure Maintainance & Control Agency (OYSIMCA)  Eghosa Urhoghide, CEO, Edo State ICT Development Agency and Engr. Ganiyu Oseni Engr. Ganiyu Oseni, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Technology, Innovation and Broadband were honoured with Digital Innovation in Governance Award for their leadership in deploying digital technologies to improve governance, ICT development, broadband expansion and public sector innovation.

Corporate Excellence Awards
The evening also celebrated organisations whose innovations continue to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation.

Speaking on the significance of this year’s awards, Don Pedro Aganbi, Convener of the Titans of Tech Africa Awards, described the 2026 edition as a defining moment in Africa’s technology journey.

Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of Deji Oguntonade, Yemi Atanda described the recognition as a fitting tribute to one of the pioneers of Nigeria’s digital payments revolution.

“On behalf of Deji Oguntonade and his family, I sincerely thank the organisers for this prestigious honour. This award recognises decades of vision, resilience and commitment that transformed digital payments in Nigeria and accelerated financial inclusion. It is also a tribute to the many innovators and institutions that have contributed to the country’s digital economy.
