Veteran journalist, media entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of TechTV Network, Don Pedro Aganbi, has received the Distinguished Contribution to Internet Journalism Award from the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), in recognition of his longstanding contributions to technology journalism and the development of Nigeria's digital ecosystem.

The award was presented at the IXPN@20 Grand Gala Dinner in Lagos as part of activities commemorating two decades of IXPN's contribution to Nigeria's internet ecosystem.

Presenting the award, Mary Uduma, Coordinator of the West Africa Internet Governance Forum, expressed her delight at recognising Aganbi, describing his contributions to the industry as significant and worthy of lasting recognition.

Uduma specifically highlighted his involvement in documenting the history of Nigeria's internet ecosystem, including his contribution to the development of the Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NiRA)'s 20th anniversary book.

"I'm so glad to be the one presenting this award to you. At NiRA, he is helping write the 20th anniversary book, and many other things you are doing for this industry cannot be forgotten in a hurry. Keep it up," Uduma said.

Also speaking at the ceremony, IXPN Chief Executive Officer, Muhammed Rudman, commended Aganbi for being among the few journalists who laid the foundation for technology journalism in Nigeria.

Rudman acknowledged his longstanding commitment to covering the technology industry, documenting its evolution and contributing to the visibility and understanding of developments shaping the country's digital landscape.

The recognition celebrates Aganbi's career at the intersection of journalism, technology, telecommunications and the digital economy, particularly his commitment to telling the stories of the people, institutions and innovations driving Nigeria's technology ecosystem.

As CEO of TechTV Network, Aganbi continues to advance technology and business journalism through industry reporting, documentaries, executive engagements and platforms that spotlight innovation and digital transformation across Africa.

The IXPN@20 celebration brought together industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, technology professionals and ecosystem partners to reflect on two decades of internet infrastructure development in Nigeria and the opportunities ahead.

For Aganbi, the recognition represents an acknowledgment of the often-understated role of journalism in building industries, preserving institutional memory and documenting the people and milestones behind national technological advancement.

WHY IT MATTERS
Technology journalism plays a critical role beyond reporting product launches and industry announcements. It documents the evolution of industries, holds institutions accountable, amplifies innovation and connects technological developments with public understanding.

By recognising Don Pedro Aganbi, IXPN has spotlighted the contribution of pioneering media professionals whose work has helped document Nigeria's internet journey and establish technology journalism as an important pillar of the country's digital economy.
