The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has empowered more than 100 persons with disabilities in Lagos with digital skills, reinforcing efforts to promote inclusive access to technology and expand opportunities within Nigeria’s digital economy.

The initiative focused on equipping participants with practical digital competencies that can support education, entrepreneurship, employment and greater participation in the digital ecosystem.

The programme reflects the growing importance of digital inclusion, particularly as technology increasingly shapes access to jobs, business opportunities, public services and social engagement.

For persons with disabilities, access to appropriate digital tools and skills can help reduce barriers to economic participation while creating new pathways for independent livelihoods.

The NCC’s intervention also underscores the need for digital transformation to extend beyond connectivity and infrastructure to include skills, accessibility and meaningful participation.

As Nigeria accelerates its digital economy agenda, initiatives targeting underserved and vulnerable communities are increasingly important to ensuring that the benefits of technology are more broadly shared.
